It's a vanity project built by an angry nerd who is displeased by the user experience on Australian airlines sites when booking reward flights. It's designed to be fun and simple to give visitors an idea of the kind of places they could go with their points balance. It's not perfect and may be innaccurate in places, but it's hoped that it's easier to use than the airlines themselves when trying to explore points trips.
It's sucked in daily via an API connection to Seats.aero. It's a great (but vast) service you should check out if you're interested in a more comprehensive catalog of global trips and airlines.
It's a python FASTAPI based web application built from scratch with the help of our senior engineer CL Aude.
PointsPigeon does not have a real-time connection to the airlines reward seat availability. We try to update everyday but there will definitely be times when our site is out of synch with the actual availability of the airlines. Sorry.
Australia is generally under-served by a duopolistic airlines system and has scant services that are built and dedicated to helping Australian consumers get a better deal. That's the mission of PointsPigeon.
